Mark Davis' unique house design is amazing to say the least; the final product is a testament of his desire to create an exceptional looking and functional solar passive house. Mark throughout the build process remained flexible with our families ideas and living needs. Extremely professional in every aspect. I have no hesitation in recommending Mark Davis Design for anyone's future dream build.

Mark worked with us from concept to completion to design our new home. He was very knowledgeable and practical when it came to energy efficiency and sustainability. We found him to be very committed, flexible and easy to partner with. He paid close attention to what we wanted from the house, both now and in the future and we are really happy with the result. Importantly he developed a great relationship with our builder and was able to contribute his ideas and guidance to the building phase. Going with a building designer was a good compromise between the cost of an architect (and potential budget blowout with an architects artistic vision) and an off-the-shelf design.

"Mark worked with us to co-design a fairly extensive renovation to allow our house to reach it's potential and adapt to the changing needs of our family as our boys moved out of primary and into high-school. Mark really listened.
We provided endless lists of what we wanted but he heard our off-the-cuff comment that really nailed our frustration with the house. His design got rid of the problem - we needed to move our stairs. There were many other design changes (walls to be knocked down, others to be built, a new bathroom added, an old bathroom revamped to include an internal laundry and a teen hang-out room created) but moving the stairs was the big one.
We loved the solution but when the builder began work we started second-guessing ourselves and looking for excuses to not move the stairs as the realities of living in a building site and trying to stay within a budget came into sharp and scary focus. Mark immediately came over on a rescue mission and helped us to recommit to our goal. So we stuck with the plan, survived the build, went on a holiday and are now absolutely loving our new home. Even our teen boys like it. It finally feels spacious and generous despite having the same footprint and it is so much easier to keep tidy.
We know we wouldn't have been as delighted with the end result if we had backed out of moving the stairs. So a big thank you to Mark for listening to what we really needed and giving us the confidence to commit!"
"In 2014 I engaged Mark Davis to design my new home at Katoomba. He worked with me from the very beginning, through until the building process, presenting me with designs, advice, following up on my behalf with council requests, then providing drawings & support to my builder. The house was built last year and I moved in, although it is still not quite completed as I am finishing it myself.
I found mark to be professional, thoughtful and very open to a two way dialogue in terms of the whole creative process. He's not driven by ego but by getting the best possible result in terms of budget, aesthetics and from my happy perspective a commitment to designing houses that are energy efficient and utilise recycled and non traditional materials.
Marks designs are interesting and intelligent and a far cry from the appalling project homes that pervade current housing trends."
Mark Fulcher 2016
We were impressed with Mark's ability to interpret our requirements and to create a fantastic living extension that blends to our current house and the surrounding environment. Mark's ability to source quality components and trades throughout the process also really assisted us to complete the build within our timeframe.
"Mark designed an extension for our house in 2014. Our existing home is an undistinguished 1960s kit home and we wanted to demolish the stand alone garage and build on that slab with a corridor linking to the existing house.
Mark listened to our ideas and put them together in a very workable design. As issues arose or we changed our minds about the design, he was happy to make amendments. We wanted to make the extension as thermally efficient as practicable and Mark was able to offer us some options to consider.
"Mark provided an elegant and workable solution for a very difficult brief.....a clever design was envisioned that would allow for more space and better access using the available space very well. As a result of this clever and well worked out design we now have a much more 'liveable' house."

"Mark was a joy to work with. He helped me design my home for my 4 children and I, to accommodate a range of ages and many interests. I needed a sunny studio, and he made the most of my small block and northerly aspect, capitalising on the available light and leafy outlook.
He was professional and respectful, and had many great suggestions. He worked diligently on my project...was competent and amiable, and I am appreciative of having been the beneficiary of his inspiration and skills. I had a strict budget, so we explored low maintenance, practical materials, and a simple floorplan.
